The fear of death and the dream of eternal youth are both constant. But this is not just about living longer, it’s also about living well.
There’s a lot of resources going into developing technologies that could help us live to 150 or longer but there’s not a lot of resources going into figuring out how to make a longer life feel interesting, rewarding and enjoyable. And who will pay for a massive aging population?
We already have early signs one major problem. While the medical technology is advancing there’s a shortage of home health care workers that are required to look after all of these older people and the availability of people to fill these jobs is projected to decline, according to the National Academy of Medicine.
